i figured out how to add and link to additional pages, i made one for my media consumption page, and this updates blog! those two names are still a WIP so will probably change at some point.
my current plan is to brain dump everything i want to make onto the site, even if it looks crap, as i tend to overthink projects and just need to get things down on the page (especially as this was a project initially to share my writing/academic endeavours).
i have just viewed the edits i have made today and need to figure out how to add a page break (probably not called that in html) as my 'updates' and 'media' hyperlinks are currently sat next to eachother horizontally. that is a problem for another day
whilst i did visit this website within my absent six months, i haven't update anything.
it has taken me a while to a) find the time to figure out html (i haven't touched ccs yet) and b) pluck up the courage to do so. but i have around 20 days until i go back to university so can currently have the time to spare
i completed the first 10 steps of the neocities tutorial and somehow managed to spell amateur wrong in the title of my site. i wrote a little WIP intro to my site and changed the colour to steel blue. once i figure out how to add photos to this updates blog i will do so!
the creation of this website.
i had been wandering around the internet trying to find a place where i could write in peace. i originally created a substack account after a friend of mine uploaded a piece of writing there but it felt too much like a social media platform. i next went to blog hosting sites like wordpress and had a little play about with the free formatting over there. i had recently created a straw.page info site and loved the old windows style aesthetic i used there, i wanted to create something like that but on a larger scale. i also wanted full control over it, unsurprising, and then fell into a rabbit hole of the indie web.
my only concern was how much of a daunting task coding a website is: the last thing i coded was a semi-functional website about seals in computer science when i was 13.
